One of the most important factors regarding being properly prepared for an emergency is knowing exactly how you can protect your home in the event of a hurricane. More importantly, you never want to wait until the last minute to gather everything you need in order to be prepared.

Here are three ways to help you reduce hurricane damage to your home.

Take the time to bring any loose items indoors. This includes lawn furniture and garbage cans, as well as any debris that can become projectiles as a result of high winds.

Cutting away weak tree branches and branches that are over any structure is a great way to prevent damage caused by trees. This can come about as a result of high winds from a hurricane.

Attached Structures

Prior to a storm occurring, have a professional inspect any carports, entryway canopies, and porches you may have in order to ensure that they are not only attached well, but also in great structural condition as well.
